About Dr Alice Heikkonen

Dr Alice Heikkonen is a registered psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) and holds PsyBA Area of Practice Endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist.  She completed her PhD (Clinical Psychology) degree at the Australian National University, researching factors involved in the maintenance of eating disorders.  She also holds Bachelor degrees in Commerce and Science (Psychology) with Honours.

Alice has worked in both public and private settings with clients across the lifespan presenting with a range of mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, perinatal mental health, trauma, sleep disturbance and adjustment problems.  She currently works with adults in her private practice.  Alice has a special interest and experience in women’s health, particularly eating disorders and perinatal mental health concerns, including issues associated with fertility, pregnancy, birth, baby, and parent-infant attachment.

Alice is trained in a range of evidence-based therapeutic frameworks.  She is also trained as a Circle of Security-Parenting (COS-P) facilitator.  Alice maintains a warm and compassionate approach and tailors treatment to the particular needs and preferences of each client.  Alice is also available to provide clinical supervision to psychologists as a PsyBA board-approved supervisor.
