About Dr Samantha Jugovac

Dr Samantha Jugovac (she/her) is a clinical psychologist, and approved supervisor with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA). Samantha is also currently a Lecturer at the University of Canberra, primarily teaching into the Master of Clinical Psychology Program.
Samantha completed her PhD at the Australian National University, focusing on attachment, emotion-focused, and behavioural parenting interventions for child and adolescent mental health difficulties.
Samantha has research and clinical interest in supporting children and families. She predominately sees children under the age of 16, including neurodivergent children and adolescents. She provides therapy to children presenting with a range of challenges including anxiety, depression, behavioural difficulties, and trauma-related presentations. Samantha also particularly is interested in working with caregivers to support their parenting practices, aligning with their broader parenting philosophies and preferences.
Samantha has experience and training with interventions based in attachment theory, emotion socialisation theory, social learning theory, and cognitive behaviour theories. Some specific interventions include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT); Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR); and Parent Management Training (PMT). Samantha also considers Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in her therapy approach.
Samantha strongly believes in adapting an evidence-based practice model, whereby she integrates best available treatments, with clinical expertise, and family preferences and values. Samantha regularly works individually with children, as well as supports family and broader systems to best support the needs of young people.
