About Marija Naumoska
Marija has been working in the field of mental health since 2002. She completed a Bachelor of Science (Honours) Degree majoring in Psychology at the Australian National University, Canberra. Her career began in the ACT, where she worked on the mental health crisis team before shifting to a case management role with community mental health services. In 2005, she moved to Sydney to pursue postgraduate Doctor of Clinical Psychology/ Master of Science Degree, at The University of Sydney, continuing to work as group and individual therapist at St John of God Hospital.
Since 2011, Marija has been working in a private practice in Sydney, providing therapy for a wide range of conditions. She understands that for many seeking help, the experience of trauma as a child and/or as an adult has been an underlying cause to their distress and difficulties in life.
As a therapist, Marija aims to provide a warm and calm atmosphere that will create a safe environment for clients to focus on overcoming past trauma and/or stressful life events. Her therapeutic style is based on the principle that ‘the client always knows what is best for them’. Therefore, she encourages her clients to be inquisitive about the process of therapy and to communicate the pace and limit of change that they find most suitable. Marija uses a range of therapeutic approaches with client. Irrespective of the approach applied, Marija will always dedicate herself to improving clients’ quality of life by fostering within them a stronger sense of purpose/ meaning and resilience to future adversity.
Marija is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA) and a registered WorkCover provider.
In addition to her work as a therapist Marija has been involved in research projects evaluating the prevalence of eating disorders amongst women in Australia and completed a doctoral thesis exploring risk and resilience factors in PTSD sufferers.
